Advanced Simulations Laboratory (AχL)

Our research focuses on building novel theories and simulation tools to design, optimize and characterize quantum devices (QDs) by combining diverse and complementary theoretical, computational and modelling approaches.

We are focusing on quantum devices such as tiny lasers, spasers, various types of transistors, optical amplifiers, and natural and metamaterial technologies useful for these devices. The fundamental research we carry out and the knowledge and know-how generated have resulted in many scientific advances and applications in areas such as high-speed optoelectronics communications and biomedical engineering.

We mainly do quantum engineering work, and quantum mechanics and quantum-electrodynamics ideas guide our work. By paying way to the advances in quantum device technology, we believe it would reach well beyond the limits of existing technology, supporting our future social and industrial infrastructures. To achieve these ambitious goals, we bring scientists, engineers and industry together in an inspiring environment.
